The Mental Health Services Delivery Model
COMING SOON
The Mental Health Services Delivery Model (MDH) was created to enable community- and government-based providers and mental health professionals to better meet the needs of victims of domestic violence who are experiencing mental health challenges.
The model closely links these multidisciplined services and expertise through i) cooperative learning, ii) addressing and closing identified gaps in service delivery, iii) fostering a network of culturally responsive services and supports to victims, iv) creating long-term and effective protocols and trainings, v) developing new and easily accessible tools for advocates/practitioners, and vi) sharing their collective wisdom.
The Partnership for Domestic Abuse Services [PDAS] is a unified alliance committed to developing and implementing a model of mental health services delivery for victims/survivors of domestic abuse who are facing persistent, long-term mental health challenges. This comprehensive, culturally sensitive model is developed with the intent to mend the gaps in service delivery that contribute to victims’ mental and emotional vulnerability, further compromising their safety and exacerbating the risks for revictimization and exploitation.
The Mental Health Services Delivery Model (MHD) is an interdisciplinary model that encompasses strategies, resources and cross-education to ensure each of the PDAS partners can effectively and adequately address the immediate and long-term safety and health needs of those we serve. The model features a diverse, inclusive and multi-lingual mental health provider referral base, consisting of professionals understanding of and empathetic towards the impacts of domestic and intimate partner abuse, whose practices are fundamentally trauma informed.
Within the model is a concentrated effort to equip mental health providers with approaches, tools and resources aims to solidify and strengthen service delivery that is victim-centered, trauma-informed and culturally affirming. Instituting regular trainings for a diverse network of mental health providers aims to expand our shared resources and implement critical education to ensure culturally responsive, appropriate care and a lasting collaboration between clinicians and abuse interventionists.
The MHD model fosters the development of a remotely accessible toolkit for partnering agencies (domestic violence advocates, law enforcement, justice system, crisis center workers, legal aid, and community-based entities) to assist them in providing appropriate responses to participants facing mental health & co-occurring issues. Our multidisciplinary team will regularly convene to inform the project, and a comprehensive evaluation system will be used continually to assess the impact and further improve service delivery.
